ABOUT US
The Johnson Energy Difference
Johnson Energy has grown from an idea in 1962 to become the leader in the fuel industry in Rutland County, VT. Our tremendous success has occurred because of our total commitment to customer satisfaction and the family attitude with which we treat every customer and employee.
Petroleum Suppliers was founded in 1962 by Fran Johnson in conjunction with Robert Smith of R.D. Smith Oil Company. Initially, Petroleum Suppliers was established strictly as a heating oil and gasoline supplier to the Rutland, Vermont area. A merger of the two companies in 1976 substantially increased the capabilities of the business that operated out of the bulk plant facilities, which were built in 1965. The partnership continued until 1988, at which time Tom Johnson joined the business. Tom, along with his father Fran, purchased the half of the business owned by Robert Smith and changed the name to Johnson Energy, Inc. This change signaled the direction the company wished to take and was the beginning of the planned progressive growth that Johnson Energy and its customers enjoy today.
Johnson Energy, because of its commitment to service its customers, purchased Kulig Fuels of West Rutland in 1990 from Joseph and Peter Kulig and the Kulig Family. This progressive action immediately doubled Johnson Energy’s position in the Rutland County market and launched the company forward at a rapid pace.
Johnson Energy flourished under the guidance of Fran Johnson until his retirement, and has continued to dynamically move forward under the leadership of Tom and Eileen Johnson. With the addition of a 24-hour service department in 1996, Johnson Energy continued its growth into a diversified, multi-product sales and service organization providing a wide range of capabilities and services to a broad customer base throughout Rutland County.
Johnson Energy is now a complete service, repair, install, and heating fuel company, with a well-trained, licensed, quality-focused team of professionals. We provide our quality service and equipment installation and repair to commercial and residential accounts. This includes new construction, refitting or replacing existing heating systems, fuel delivery, fuel tank installation, and heat pumps, while also providing service on a 24-hour emergency basis.

The Johnson Energy Story
ABOUT US
In 1998, the management structure at Johnson Energy was realigned in an effort to more effectively position the company to respond to economic changes, competitive pressures, and the need for continued growth and profitability. Thomas Johnson is the President — focusing primarily on administration, strategic planning, fuel delivery, and the professional operation of the company. Eileen Johnson is Vice President — focusing on supporting all aspects of the business.
Scott Moore, General Manager, is responsible for providing direction and leadership for all day-to-day operations for Johnson Energy. Eric Parker, Service Manager, is in charge of all service-related activities — equipment installation, repair, maintenance, and service delivery, including warranty, time and materials, and contract services. Both Scott and Eric also contribute to marketing and sales functions, customer interface, customer contacts, service and oil contract negotiations, and expansion of customer base, and are accountable for maintaining customer satisfaction excellence.
Complimenting these organizational changes is Johnson Energy’s commitment to its employees. They accomplish this by providing opportunities for both personal and professional growth to their highly skilled and talented employees.
Each member of Johnson Energy’s team is highly skilled within his or her respective area of responsibility. Each one has already made a sizable contribution to Johnson Energy’s success. These changes in the organization effectively positioned Johnson Energy to remain competitive, increase market share, and increase profitability — while also reinforcing our position in the communities we serve and continuing to establish our reputation as the standard for quality technical service within the industry.
